Face And Neck Lift

Face and neck lift surgery is done to improve the aged appearance of the lower two-thirds of the face and neck. Forehead and/or eyelid surgery may be done in conjunction with a facelift.

The most common patient concerns are the jowls near the jaw line, lax skin in the neck, and the accumulation of fat immediately beneath the chin. Not only is excess skin excised and fat removed with liposuction, the underlying platysma muscle is also tightened. By gently pulling the sagging muscle up, we can avoid tension on the skin, achieving a better, longer lasting and more natural result.

Making the Decision

During your initial consultation, our Medical Director, Dr. Sassan Alavi will evaluate your face, including the skin and underlying bones and discuss your goals for the surgery.

Understanding the Surgery

As people age, the effects of gravity, exposure to the sun, and the stresses of daily life can be seen in their faces. Deep creases form between the nose and mouth (nasolabial fold). The jaw-line grows slack and jowls emerge. Fold and fat deposits appear around the neck. The extent and direction of these events varies between individuals. Thus we all age differently.

This understanding has made the surgical technique used by Dr. Alavi very specialized. he uses photos from your 20's, 30's and 40's as a template and sculpts your face to return your natural beauty as you appeared many years ago. This method of using photos will give you a youthful appearance but it does not stop the aging process. The patient will always appear younger than their chronological age.

The goal of facelift surgery is a more rested and youthful look. The patient will continue to age after facelift surgery, however, the results should last for many years.

Your Recovery

Following your surgery you will rest in our adjoining recovery room until you are released to go home. Dr. Alavi monitors your progress with daily phone calls. In addition, we have a 24 hour patient line for you to call if you have any questions. Each patient's recovery is different and Dr. Alavi will discuss this with you. Makeup can be worn after the sutures are removed. You are on you way to looking younger!
